ENG VS PAK ODI: England won the
match against Pakistan by four wickets, now ahead of the series 4-0
Leeds: In reply to Pakistan's 248, England scored 252 for 6
wickets in 48 overs and won the fourth match of the five-match series. That way
he has now moved ahead of the series 4-0. Along with this, his eyesight is now
on for the clean sweep of 5-0 in a series for the second time in his ODI
history. He had earlier defeated Zimbabwe in 2001 with this difference at his
stipulation.
England won the match by 12 sticks with the help of BA
Stokes (69) and JM Bairstow (61), and half-centuries from Ammi's unbeaten 45.
Although England's start was poor and they lost four wickets for 72 runs within
15 overs.
But after that Stokes and Bairstow played a key role in
winning the team through a decisive partnership of 100 runs. Most successful
bowler Mohammad Irfan from Pakistan and he got two wickets. Apart from this,
Umar Gul, Hasan Ali and Imad Wasim get one wicket each. Bairstow was run out.
Earlier, Pakistan decided to bat first before winning the
toss but again failed to get a good start, and after this there was no major
partnership on their part. Captain Azhar Ali's half-century and Imad Wasim's
flurry of half-centuries helped Pakistan to score 247 for eight wickets despite
losing the wickets in regular intervals.
Azhar scored 80 runs off 104 balls with five fours and two
sixes, while Wasim played an unbeaten 57 in 41 balls, including seven fours and
a six in his last moments. The team made only one half-century partnership
which Wasim played with Hasan Ali for the eighth wicket. Hasan Ali's
contribution was only nine runs in this.
Leg-spinner Adil Rashid was England's most successful
bowler. He took three wickets for 47 runs. Moin Ali and Chris Jordan got two
wickets each.
